COVID 19 and Kano lockdown: if you've been counting, you will not be wrong if you say today is day seven, since kano began her sit at home order. The order has been relaxed for a couple of hours(to last till midnight) to allow the "kano-nites" restock; get food items and other necessity. To that end, many streets, many market place and many stores are littered with people who are struggling to get food items that will carry them and their family through the next seven days of staying at home.
Concededly, it's a necessary thing that people need to come out to rejuvenate themselves, in the different sectors that needs rejuvenating. It's necessary still, for people who feed hand-to-mouth to come out and scramble for the money with which to feed. It's necessary also, for business men/women whose businesses would suffer for lack of their presence to come out. . .
But with this kind of pandemic that we're faced with and considering its very evil nature of spreading, do you think that it is wise that we should all be out the way we are today in kano?
I mean take a look at the SABONGARRI market, then, you would understand why I'm lamenting(I couldn't get pictures).
Our market is filled to overflowing and one cannot comfortably walk in and out of it without smooching or touching the next person. This is a great risk, as it facilitates the spread of this deadly virus that has sworn to snatch out life from God's people!
Which is why noble men/women and even countrymen have been shouting - palliative measures be provided. But no, nothing is done. . .
Anyway, what do I know?
So, what do you think about kano stay at home relaxation day?. . . Let's have your take on it!
